Enloe’s Pain Management Program

Alleviating Pain

The doctors at Enloe's Pain Management Program provide a wide range of services for adults and teens suffering with pain. We use emerging and well-established methods to help our patients optimize and maintain functional independence and a good quality of life.

Our clinic is located inside the Enloe Rehabilitation Center, and physicians work closely with the physical, occupational and speech therapists at Enloe Outpatient Rehabilitation to help patients live better. If you would like to see us, please ask your doctor for a referral.

Most people will develop pain at some point in their lives. Often, the discomfort goes away on its own.

When it doesn't, over-the-counter medications such as Tylenol or Ibuprofen can help, as can manual treatments like physical therapy or massage. However, if those approaches don't bring you relief, the procedures we offer can help.

Services & Treatments

When you see us, we'll get your medical history and do a physical exam to diagnose the source of your pain. Sometimes we find the source quickly. Other times, we may employ diagnostic tests such as X-rays or an MRI, or a minimally invasive procedure to help us find the source.

Musculoskeletal Rehabilitation

If you suffer from joint pain due to arthritis, tendonitis or bursitis, or neck pain due to spinal arthritis, degenerative disk disease, or spinal stenosis, our team can help. We also help patients suffering from:

If you continue to have significant symptoms after trying conservative therapies, we can refer you to a surgeon, physical therapist or prescribe medication to improve your well-being.

Neuro Rehabilitation & Brain Injury

Our team can also help you if you've suffered neurologic injuries or conditions, including spinal cord and brain injuries, stroke, Cerebral Palsy, multiple sclerosis, or Parkinson's disease.

Orthotics &Prosthetics

We provide comprehensive care for amputees and patients who may benefit from a brace, or orthotic.

Our staff works closely with orthotists, prosthetists, and physical therapists to see if these items are needed, or if medications or physical therapy will benefit you. We can also help coordinate home medical equipment and assistance if needed.

Our goal is to help you optimize your functional independence.

Spasticity, Migraines & Cervical Dystonia

We can help you manage spasticity, migraines and cervical dystonia through the use of Botox injections.

Electroymyography (EMG) & Nerve Conduction Studies

These tests help us evaluate tingling, numbness, weakness, or pain in the arms or legs due to nerve or muscle disorders. The tests can help us diagnose conditions such as carpel tunnel syndrome, radiculopathy and peripheral neuropathy.

Interventional Procedures

We perform the following interventional procedures in the clinic office or at Enloe’s Outpatient Surgery Center using X-ray guidance. Most of our patients tolerate the procedures well, with little to no pre-procedure sedation.

  • Trigger Point Injections: This involves injecting a mixture of cortisone and local anesthetic into painful regions in the muscle tissue to treat myofascial pain, typically in the neck or back.

  • Cortisone injections: Used for joint pain due to arthritis or tendonitis, these injections are usually applied to the knees, hips, shoulders and sacroiliac joints.

  • Epidural steroid injections: These are used to relieve back pain, sciatica or neck pain with shooting arm pain.

  • Radiofrequency ablation: This helps treat back  and neck pain, or headaches from facet joint arthritis in the spine. Small nerves are coagulated to treat the pain for several months.

  • Spinal Cord Stimulators (SCS): If you have tried several different treatments or injections and continue to have significant pain—and you're not a candidate for major surgery—you may be a candidate for Spinal Cord Stimulators, or SCS. Dr. Furst performs SCS trials. If your trial is successful, we can refer you to another doctor to undergo the implanted SCS.
