Enloe Interventional Radiology

An Alternative to Surgery

Interventional radiology (IR) is a rapidly growing subspecialty of radiology that uses minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnosis and treat medical conditions that once required open surgery.

At Enloe Medical Center, we offer several IR procedures that are performed in the hospital, as well as follow-up care and referral services through the Enloe Interventional Radiology Clinic.

Tiny Incision, Big Results

IR physicians use image-guidance via ultrasound, X-ray, CT, MRI, and fluoroscopy to perform advanced minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat a wide range of diseases and conditions, including:

  • cardiovascular disease
  • cancer
  • uterine fibroids
  • and many others

This leading-edge technology allows caregivers to treat medical problems within the body by navigating through blood vessels using tools — such as catheters, wires and stents — or through tiny incisions.

Many procedures that once required surgery can be performed without general anesthesia or incisions, enabling some patients to go home the very same day their IR procedure was performed at Enloe Medical Center. This approach also comes with a reduced risk for complications, less pain and shorter recovery compared to conventional surgery.

Compassionate, Skilled Care

Enloe caregivers have advanced training in both radiology and minimally invasive therapies. They are certified by the American Board of Radiology and work as part of a collaborative team, partnering with your primary care physician or referring specialist.

They are assisted by certified radiology technologists and registered nurses, who are committed to conducting radiologic procedures with skill, efficiency, compassion, and a focus on patient safety and comfort.

Follow-Up & Referral Services

Several IR procedures are performed inside Enloe Medical Center for both diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. These include:

  • Angiography
  • Arterial and venous thrombolysis
  • Embolization
  • Hemodialysis access maintenance
  • IVC filter placement
  • Kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty
  • Stent placement

Patients who have these or other IR procedures at Enloe Medical Center and need follow-up care, or those who need services by referral can see one of the four doctors at the Enloe Interventional Radiology Clinic. These caregivers see patients by appointment.

Physicians can refer patients to Enloe Interventional Radiology by filling out this form and returning it to the clinic staff.
