In-Hospital Cancer Care
Enloe’s Oncology Department
Cancer care may require admission into the hospital. If this happens, you’ll get focused care from Enloe Medical Center's Oncology department.
These caregivers take a team approach, whether you’re in need of ovarian cancer treatment, kidney cancer treatment or the treatment of another cancer. In fact, you may see several providers during your stay, including:
- Doctors who specialize in hematology and medical oncology. Hematologists treat and diagnose diseases of the blood and bone marrow. Oncology doctors are experts in cancer care.
- Registered nurses specialized in oncology care. These caregivers provide treatment and ensure you understand your care. A chemotherapy resource nurse is also on hand to ensure caregivers are well-versed in the latest research and best practices, so you receive top care.
- A case management team to help you with insurance, housing, long-term care and other needs. These caregivers can also connect you with support groups and service agencies. This team includes staff specialized in stress management, crisis intervention, and end-of-life decisions and are ready to help.
- Dietitians to help with issues like weight loss, nausea and changes in taste.
- Therapists to help you improve your range of motion, strength, endurance and more.
- Volunteers who can visit you in your room to help you feel at ease. Spiritual care providers are also available upon request.
