Education & Support

Through our Cancer Support Services, Enloe Regional Cancer Center organizes support groups and classes in Chico, Calif., to help our patients and their families learn about their illness and find healthy ways to cope.

New Patient Orientation

All newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers are encouraged to attend our New Patient Orientation. Hematology patients are also invited.

Learn how to get the most out of your doctor’s visits, communicate with others about your diagnosis, manage financial and legal issues, deal with stress related to your diagnosis, and more. You'll also learn about resources to support you during and after treatment.

New Patient Orientation takes place on Wednesdays from 11 a.m. to noon at the Cancer Center Library, 265 Cohasset Road, Suite 120, Chico. Register at the reception area of your doctor’s office at the Cancer Center or by calling (530) 332-3900.

Chemotherapy Education

Being informed about chemotherapy can help reduce stress and improve your experience. Through our Chemotherapy Education, patients can get a brief introduction into chemotherapy and ask questions of an oncology nurse. Caregivers are also encouraged to attend.

Chemotherapy Education takes place Wednesdays at 10 a.m. at the Cancer Center Library, 265 Cohasset Road, Suite 120. Register at the reception area of your doctor’s office or by calling (530) 332-3900.

Gentle Movement Class | Healthy Steps

Gentle, therapeutic exercise can help patients regain range of motion, increase flexibility, reduce swelling from lymphedema, decrease depression, and promote positive self-image — plus it’s fun! Our Healthy Steps class features gentle, easy movement that can be done sitting or standing.

Healthy Steps takes place Mondays from 6-7 p.m. and Wednesdays from 2:30-3:30 p.m. at the Fountain Medical Plaza, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico, in the Fountain Medical Conference Room.

All classes are free with a $10 materials fee. Pre-registration is required. For more information, call (530) 332-3856.

Note: To help keep our community safe during the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) situation, these classes are being postponed until further notice.

Options for Care

At times, patients are diagnosed when their cancer is widespread. Sometimes the illness has recurred and treatment does not seem to be helping. In these cases, patients may want to be with loved ones in the comfort of their home.

Enloe HomeCare & Hospice can help. The staff can provide invaluable care, as well as physical, emotional and spiritual support. Respect and dignity are enhanced through personal care planning and education for family members on patient comfort.
