Complementary Therapies

Treating the Whole Person

Enloe Behavioral Health believes in taking care of our patients holistically. We aim to treat the mind, body and spirit. As a result, we offer the following complementary therapies to help our patients' overall well-being.

A Narcotics Anonymous group meets on Saturdays, so patients can address any addictions they may have. This group is closed, so only our clients can attend, allowing them to share their feelings and experiences in a safe and confidential environment.

An Alcoholics Anonymous group meets on Sundays to help our patients in the recovery process. This group is also closed, so only our patients can attend, giving them a safe and confidential environment in which to recover.

We know how important it is to address and nurture patients' spiritual needs during a crisis or hospital stay. That's why we have Spiritual Support Volunteers who are available to talk with clients upon request.

Enloe Behavioral Health values sleep, which is a critical component of good health. We are committed to helping patients get the best rest possible during their stay, so we offer sleep menus to give patients everything they need for a good night's rest.

Our Use of Aromatherapy

Enloe Behavioral Health uses aromatherapy, the use of pure essential oils for a therapeutic purpose.

Aromatherapy can improve your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Some of the essential oils used at Enloe Behavioral Health include:

  • Lavender for nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, depression, PMS, headache, anger, fear and stress. Lavender enhances the sense of well-being and may reduce fear and anxiety prior to medical procedures.
  • Ginger for nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It has antispasmodic properties, settles the digestive system and stimulates the appetite. Ginger has warming properties and may be useful if you have the chills, a cold or the flu.  It can also be useful in clearing your sinuses.
  • Bergamot as an antidepressant. It can relieve tension headaches, nervousness, agitation and insomnia. This calming antispasmodic may also benefit digestive disorders, contains immune-stimulating properties and may stimulate the appetite. Bergamot is also uplifting and refreshing, and can calm emotional stress.
  • Peppermint for headaches, migraines and mental fatigue. Its calming effects can help with anxiety and depression. Peppermint can also help with nausea, including post-operative nausea. The deodorizer is also beneficial for sinus congestion and recommended for onset of flus, colds and respiratory infections.
