Enloe Behavioral Health

Quality Care

Enloe Behavioral Health provides patient-centered psychiatric care for adults ages 18 and over at our inpatient hospital facility in Chico, Calif.

Our multidisciplinary team helps to stabilize the crisis that led to hospitalization, provides a thorough evaluation, develops a treatment plan and coordinates care in a supportive, safe environment.

Enloe Behavioral Health is the only voluntary acute-care inpatient mental health program for adults north of Sacramento to the Oregon border. We offer complimentary assessments 24 hours a day, seven days a week through appointments or walk-ins. We accept private insurance and Medicare. Our program is strictly confidential. Learn more about our services below.

Compassionate Care

The Behavioral Health team will work with patients who are experiencing the debilitating effects of depression, anxiety, mood and thought disorders, as well as psychosis. Our focal point is to provide patients access to a better means of coping with their problems outside of the hospital after offering thorough comprehensive, multidisciplinary assessments and skills training.

Mental Illness Affects Millions

Watch Us on Facebook

Good mental health is as vital as good physical well-being. Yet few people make their mental health a priority. Learn more in our Facebook Live event with Jocelyn Beauregard, a social worker with Enloe Behavioral Health, and Holly Kralj, a certified nurse midwife with Enloe Women's Services. They discuss why mental health is important, how to recognize depression and anxiety, coping strategies, and more.

Substance Abuse Assessment

When living with the symptoms of depression, anxiety, or more severe mental disorders, it is not uncommon for sufferers to turn to alcohol, or some other substance, to ease the pain. This is why a substance abuse assessment can be an important tool when diagnosing and treating mental illness. Learn about dual diagnosis: substance abuse and mental illness.

Referrals & Assessments

The appointment lasts about 2 hours and is conducted by a qualified clinician. Although an appointment is preferred, walk-ins are welcome. Family members or friends are welcome to attend the assessment for additional support, if desired.

Our Use of Aromatherapy

Enloe Behavioral Health uses aromatherapy, the use of pure essential oils for a therapeutic purpose.

Aromatherapy can improve your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. Some of the essential oils used at Enloe Behavioral Health include:

  • Lavender for nervousness, anxiety, insomnia, depression, PMS, headache, anger, fear and stress. Lavender enhances the sense of well-being and may reduce fear and anxiety prior to medical procedures.
  • Ginger for nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. It has antispasmodic properties, settles the digestive system and stimulates the appetite. Ginger has warming properties and may be useful if you have the chills, a cold or the flu.  It can also be useful in clearing your sinuses.
  • Bergamot as an antidepressant. It can relieve tension headaches, nervousness, agitation and insomnia. This calming antispasmodic may also benefit digestive disorders, contains immune-stimulating properties and may stimulate the appetite. Bergamot is also uplifting and refreshing, and can calm emotional stress.
  • Peppermint for headaches, migraines and mental fatigue. Its calming effects can help with anxiety and depression. Peppermint can also help with nausea, including post-operative nausea. The deodorizer is also beneficial for sinus congestion and recommended for onset of flus, colds and respiratory infections.
