Psychiatry Residency Program
Shaping Future Psychiatrists 
Enloe Health is proud to partner with Health Rural California to bring a four-year Psychiatry Residency Program to our region, helping train the next generation of psychiatrists while expanding access to high-quality behavioral health services in Northern California.
This innovative collaboration combines the strengths of a regional health system and community-based training network to provide residents with a comprehensive, patient-centered educational experience across a broad spectrum of psychiatric and medical settings.
Strong Clinical Foundations
The first year of training is based on the Enloe Health campus, where residents develop the clinical skills and medical knowledge essential to practicing psychiatry.
During this foundational year, residents gain experience caring for patients in diverse, inpatient settings, including:
- Emergency Psychiatry — Assessment and stabilization of patients experiencing behavioral health crises
- Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry — Addressing the psychiatric needs of hospitalized patients with complex medical and surgical conditions
- Inpatient Neurology — Understanding the relationship between neurologic and psychiatric disorders
- Inpatient Internal Medicine — Developing expertise in the medical conditions that frequently impact mental health and psychiatric treatment
Community-Based Psychiatric Training
Following their first year at Enloe Health, residents continue their training through community-based clinical experiences coordinated by Health Rural California. These training opportunities expose residents to a diverse range of patient populations, care settings, and treatment approaches while strengthening the behavioral health workforce throughout rural and underserved communities.
Residents work alongside experienced psychiatrists, primary care physicians, behavioral health professionals, and community organizations, gaining valuable experience in outpatient psychiatry, community mental health, and integrated care models.
