Enloe Health offers three residency programs — two in partnership with Healthy Rural California and one administered directly by Enloe.

Family Medicine & Psychiatry
Healthy Rural California Inc., a nonprofit organization focused on eliminating health disparities in the North State, offers residency programs in family medicine and psychiatry. Enloe Health is one of the primary training sites where residents complete their education.
Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education, the program offers extensive on-site education and training. Residents work under the supervision of Enloe’s trusted physicians at Enloe Health Enloe Medical Center, located in Chico, CA.
Enloe’s experienced caregivers stay up to date on the latest evidence so they can provide the highest-quality care possible — and help the next generation of physicians do the same.

A Closer Look at the Family Medicine Program
Healthy Rural California’s Family Medicine Residency is committed to training residents to be excellent clinicians for underserved and diverse communities in the rural region of Northern California. Residents will become effective advocates for primary care, health care access, and equity and will provide high-quality care in a variety of clinical settings.
This program offers outstanding support from knowledgeable faculty, leading-edge academics, and the opportunity to connect with diverse patients and caregivers.

- Hematology/oncology
- Emergency medicine
- Community health
- Hospital medicine

Residents also attend didactics each week. These sessions will allow residents to discuss interesting cases, hear invigorating lectures and recharge in Enloe’s resident lounge before returning to clinical responsibilities.
A Closer Look at the Psychiatry Program
Healthy Rural California’s Psychiatry Residency is committed to training residents to be excellent clinicians for underserved and diverse communities in the rural region of Northern California. Residents will become effective advocates for mental health equity, lead trauma-informed care and provide high-quality care in a variety of clinical settings.
Rotations at Enloe will cover:
- Emergency Psychiatry — Assessment and stabilization of patients experiencing behavioral health crises
- Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry — Addressing the psychiatric needs of hospitalized patients with complex medical and surgical conditions
- Inpatient Neurology — Understanding the relationship between neurologic and psychiatric disorders
- Inpatient Internal Medicine — Developing expertise in the medical conditions that frequently impact mental health and psychiatric treatment

Medical students can apply to the Family Medicine and Psychiatry Residency programs.
Healthy Rural California accepts applications through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) system, which opens in September,
Healthy Rural California will interview applicants in late 2026 and early 2027. Final decisions will be announced on Match Day in March 2027.
Enloe welcomed 11 new residents in 2026.
Orthopaedic Physical Therapy
Enloe Health offers a residency program in orthopaedic physical therapy. The program is accredited by the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education.
Participants receive extensive on-site education and hands-on training while working under the supervision of Enloe’s most trusted physical therapists.
These experienced caregivers stay up to date on the latest evidence so they can provide the highest-quality care possible — and help the next generation of physical therapists do the same. 
Training takes place at the state-of-the-art Enloe Health Rehabilitation Center, located in Chico, CA, less than 2 hours north of Sacramento.
