Enloe Health Celebrates Ribbon Cutting for Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center
CHICO, Calif., Aug. 11, 2026 – Enloe Health celebrated a historic milestone in cancer care for the North State with a ribbon-cutting celebration for the Enloe Health Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center on Aug. 10.
Held in collaboration with the Chico Chamber of Commerce, the community celebration took place at the approximately 101,000-square-foot center, located at 2390 East 20th St. within Chico’s Meriam Park. The center brings together multidisciplinary expertise, leading-edge technology and person-centered support services in one healing environment. The center will open to patients in September.
“The Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center is a powerful example of what becomes possible when a community comes together around a shared vision,” said Mike Wiltermood, President and CEO of Enloe Health. “Because of the generosity and support of so many, this center expands access to exceptional cancer care close to home and creates a place where patients and families can find expertise, compassion, and hope.”
The center also reflects years of community support. Dan and Dawn Gonzales contributed 13 acres of land for the project, and the Enloe Health Foundation’s Comprehensive Cancer Center Campaign raised more than $21 million to support construction of the center and the creation of the Enloe Health Supportive Therapies program, supported by the Aaron Rodgers Foundation.
“This center is a reflection of our community’s generosity and heart,” said Jolene Francis, Vice President and Chief Development Officer of Enloe Health. “Because of so many donors across the region, patients and families will have access to advanced cancer care and meaningful support close to home.”
Community members explored areas of the new facility during self-guided tours and learned about the advanced services and technology that will be available.
The Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center brings together advanced technology, multidisciplinary expertise and patient-centered services in one coordinated setting. Designed with patients and families in mind, the center reflects Enloe Health’s commitment to expanding access to high-quality cancer care close to home.
When open, the facility will include 18 doctors, 14 advanced practice providers, 51 infusion treatment spaces, 14 consult rooms, six cancer departments, three linear accelerators, a specialty pharmacy, an on-site laboratory and additional patient support spaces.
“I truly believe this center will transform cancer care in our region,” said Sam Mazj, M.D., Medical Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Center. “But beyond the numbers, it’s about something bigger. It’s about giving people more time, more moments with their families and more reasons to be hopeful.”
