Edward O’Regan, M.D., Honored With Physician Legacy Award
CHICO, Calif., Feb. 25, 2026 – Edward O’Regan, M.D., a distinguished hospitalist dedicated to caring for patients, has been named the winner of the 2025 Physician Legacy Award. Dr. O’Regan was one of the founding members of the Chico Hospitalist Group and has been with Enloe Health since 1988.
Annually, physicians, hospital employees and volunteers, and community members submit nominations for the Physician Legacy Award, a recognition that honors a physician’s body of work both inside and outside of the profession that has made an impact on the community. Enloe Health’s Medical Executive Committee selects the winner.
Sean Maiorano, D.O., Enloe’s Chief Medical Officer, presented the award to Dr. O’Regan in a ceremony on Dec. 10, 2025. Dr. Maiorano praised Dr. O’Regan’s humble demeanor.
“His contributions are invaluable to our medical staff and his colleagues,” Dr. Maiorano said. “His quiet leadership is both humbling and inspiring — something I think we should all emulate.”
Dr. O’Regan saw the enthusiasm his father showed while taking care of patients, how patients loved interacting with him and realized early on that being a doctor was the perfect job for him.
“I think this job was made for me,” Dr. O’Regan said.
Practicing medicine continues to run in the family as his daughter is a physician assistant at Enloe Health.
Dr. O’Regan, the 24th physician to earn this distinction, credited a plethora of people for their everyday contributions in earning the Physician Legacy Award.
“The Physician Legacy Award for me is a shared award. I couldn’t do it without other people,” Dr. O’Regan said. “This is not a solo sport. This is a group award, so I would like to thank everyone who has been a part of any of my past and current teams.”
