Enloe Announces Closure of its Home Health, Hospice Programs
CHICO, Calif., Aug. 6, 2025 – Enloe Health announces a new collaboration with Butte Home Health and Hospice that strengthens coordinated care for patients transitioning from hospital to home. This decision precedes the planned closure of Enloe Health Home Health and Enloe Health Hospice, which takes effect Oct. 31, 2025.
With the new collaboration, Butte Home Health and Hospice, a leading home health agency based in Chico, will serve as a preferred provider of skilled nursing, rehabilitative care, and hospice care for Enloe Health patients who require support after being discharged from the hospital.

The new collaboration enhances communication between the two health care organizations to help patients receive seamless transitions, timely access to home health services, and continuity of care — critical to reducing hospital readmissions and improving recovery outcomes.

The decision to close its home health and hospice services was not made lightly, but after careful consideration it allows Enloe to focus limited resources on acute and other ambulatory health care services. The closure will affect about 75 Enloe employees.
“We are very aware of the impact this change will have on our dedicated employees, and we hope those who desire to remain at Enloe Health will apply for open positions within the organization,” Wiltermood said. “We also understand that some will explore opportunities with Butte Home Health or other home health providers.”
While the collaboration establishes Butte Home Health and Hospice as a top-tier provider for referrals from Enloe Health Enloe Medical Center, patients will retain the right to choose any qualified home health agency they desire. The arrangement complies with all Medicare and patient choice regulations. Enloe Health emphasizes that the agreement with Butte Home Health and Hospice is grounded in shared values of clinical integrity, patient dignity, and excellent service.
