Enloe Medical Center Rebrands as Enloe Health
CHICO, Calif., Nov. 2, 2023 – Enloe Medical Center is proud to announce the beginning of a phased brand transition to Enloe Health. The new brand better reflects Enloe’s evolution from a community hospital to a robust, proudly independent, nonprofit health system. With the new name and logo, a refreshed mission, vision, and values will be implemented, along with the tagline You belong.
- Mission: Elevating the health of our communities
- Vision: Delivering exceptional health care experiences
- Values: Safety | Engagement | Trust | Excellence | Belonging
The brand refresh honors the organization’s past and celebrates its future. The new icon offers a unique and contemporary look derived from a historical photograph of Dr. Newton Thomas Enloe sitting on a log ambulance he developed to transport patients. The new tagline, You belong, is an invitation and a reminder that at Enloe Health everyone is welcome and will be treated with respect and compassion through their health care journey.
“More than a century ago, we were Enloe Hospital. As time has passed and our organization has evolved, our name has changed slightly to reflect that growth,” said Mike Wiltermood, Enloe Health’s President and CEO. “Enloe has an incredibly strong brand in the North State. We have solid values and we enjoy tremendous goodwill within our region. We want to build on that relationship to continue energizing and inspiring health care as we move into the future.”
The new identity aims to reflect the scope of Enloe’s services and drive the organization to the next level, while reaffirming its independence and commitment to the North State communities. The Camp Fire and COVID-19 pandemic have accelerated the growth of the organization, as it rose to the challenge to fill gaps in services and meet the growing health care needs of our communities.
“Not only are we a much larger organization today, with expansive ambulatory service offerings, but we’ve achieved a great deal of success in the way of quality, safety and service improvements over the last decade,” said Jolene Francis, Enloe Health’s Vice President of Philanthropy & Communications. “I firmly believe that by maintaining a forward-looking perspective, we can continue to turn our vision into accomplishments that better serve our region.”
In 1913, Dr. Enloe opened Enloe Hospital on Flume Street in downtown Chico. It had 25 patient beds, three doctors and five nurses. Today, Enloe is a vast organization, comprised of a 300-bed acute care, Level II Trauma Center, inpatient rehabilitation and behavioral health campuses, and over a dozen ambulatory clinics, including more than 45 medical services. The organization is in the process of building a new 97,000-square-foot comprehensive cancer center. Enloe runs the only hospital-owned and operated air ambulance in California and employs more than 4,000 people.
Reimagining Enloe was a fully internal process with no assistance from external consulting firms. A representative sample of clinical and nonclinical caregivers, new and seasoned employees, and volunteer board members participated in various focus groups to gather data used to develop the new elements. The Enloe Health name and logo will be systematically implemented across Enloe locations over time.
