Enloe Medical Center Named One of America’s 250 Best Hospitals — Hospital Among Top 5% in Nation for Patient Safety and Quality
CHICO, Calif., Feb. 9, 2021 – Enloe Medical Center has earned designation as one of America’s 250 Best Hospitals™ for patient safety and quality, according to new research released by Healthgrades, the leading resource that connects consumers, physicians, and health systems. The distinction places Enloe in the top 5% of nearly 4,500 hospitals assessed across the country.
“Patient safety and quality care will always be our priority at Enloe,” said Mike Wiltermood, Enloe Medical Center’s president and CEO. “This recognition from Healthgrades is a wonderful affirmation of the ongoing commitment to our mission from each and every Enloe caregiver. We are extremely proud to earn this accolade while navigating our way through the multiple disasters that our region has faced these past few years.”
From 2017 through 2019, patients treated in hospitals achieving the award had, on average, a 27.4% percent lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award, as measured across 19 rated conditions and procedures for which mortality is the outcome.*
During the same period, if all hospitals performed similarly to those achieving the Healthgrades America’s 250 Best Hospitals Award, 167,235 lives could potentially have been saved. For example, patients treated for heart failure in hospitals achieving the award, have, on average, a 34.7% lower risk of dying than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*
“Amidst the coronavirus crisis, it has never been more important to acknowledge the hospitals that remain committed to delivering the highest quality care,” said Brad Bowman, M.D., Healthgrades chief medical officer. “Healthgrades Americas 250 Best Hospitals recognizes organizations across the country for their ongoing pursuit of the highest health care standards and exceptional outcomes.”
Enloe was also recognized this year as one of America’s 100 Best Hospitals for General Surgery and Gastrointestinal Care™ for two years in a row (2020-2021); a recipient of the Healthgrades Cranial Neurosurgery Excellence Award™ for three years in a row (2019-2021); and named among the top 10% in the Nation for Critical Care in 2021.
