Enloe Health Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center
Construction Underway
In the North State, cancer is a leading cause of death.
Enloe Health recognizes the critical need for expanded services. The Enloe Health Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center, an approximately 100,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility in Meriam Park, will remedy the dire need to increase cancer care in the North State. Located at the corner of East 20th Street and Bruce Road in Chico, this comprehensive center allows patients to receive care locally from start to finish. Enloe celebrated the beginning of construction for the new center on May 10, 2024. The opening is slated for the summer of 2026.

Providing the Best Care Right Here
Hear Craig’s Story

“When you get a cancer diagnosis, it changes your whole world,” says Nicole Whitlatch, M.D., hematologist/oncologist.
Many in the community have experienced leading-edge cancer care at home, and support bringing more critical resources to the area. Craig Hill, a husband, father and grandfather, faced stage 4 esophageal cancer — a rare and aggressive cancer. He received groundbreaking immunotherapy treatment at Enloe.
“If Enloe wouldn’t have been here where I could get treatments and I would have had to travel, I wouldn’t have done it. I would have just stopped,” he said. “I’m so grateful we have something like the Cancer Center right here. They are a lifeline for me and so many other people in the area.”
He is not alone. In the U.S., about 41% of men and 39% of women will develop cancer during their lifetimes, according to the American Cancer Society. Nationally, cancer diagnoses continue to increase, affecting more than 1.5 million people each year.
Cancer Incidence Rates
Our region experiences higher rates of lung, female breast, colorectal, and prostate cancers than other parts of the state and the nation.

Cancer Mortality Rates
Tragically, due to gaps in diagnostic services targeting early detection, many cancers are diagnosed at a late stage, increasing mortality rates among North State residents.

Saving Lives
Survival rates increase significantly when patients have access to education, screening and early diagnosis, followed by leading-edge treatment, supportive therapies and aftercare services. That’s where the Enloe Health Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center comes in.
Wrap-Around Services
To help save lives, Enloe is building a new, centrally located comprehensive cancer center, where patients can get all of their cancer care from start to finish.
Pairing state-of-the art treatment and equipment with wrap-around services and therapies, the Enloe Health Gonzales Comprehensive Cancer Center will bring new hope to North State patients and their families, close to home.
One Location
By consolidating these world-class services in one place, Enloe will be able to better serve patients who often need to see several caregivers throughout their cancer journeys. The new center will also help Enloe attract — and retain — the highly skilled physicians Enloe patients have come to expect.
Plus, it will allow for more efficient, focused, productive, and fiscally responsible care, while continuing Enloe’s tradition of compassionate, individualized treatment and expanding care.
