Stay Well With Enloe Primary Care
New Office Offers 2 Providers

The saying goes, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” But having regular annual visits with a provider is actually vital for good health.
Nation and statewide, getting an appointment can be a challenge, though, as these health care professionals are in short supply. A recent report found that Butte County has one primary care doctor for every 1,650 residents. The California average is one primary care doctor for every 1,250 residents. That’s why Enloe was proud to open Enloe Primary Care. Its first patients walked through the doors Sept. 19 — and new patients are welcome!
“Dr. Pace looks forward to helping improve the health of his patients and the community. He recognizes that good health relies on many factors. For his part, he prioritizes medicine based on sound evidence, emphasizes healthy lifestyle habits and looks to connect patients with local resources.”
The Power of Primary Care
A primary care team gets to know you and your medical history. An annual visit can keep you on track with recommended screenings and vaccinations and healthy living.
Primary care providers can treat common illnesses and detect diseases early, before they become serious. If necessary, they can refer you to a medical specialist. For patients with chronic conditions, these providers can help manage symptoms. This all adds up to better health — and lower health care costs.
Meet the Providers
At Enloe Primary Care, you can make an appointment with a doctor or a nurse practitioner.
Family practitioner Andrew Pace, M.D., moved to Chico from Phoenix, where he had a primary care practice. Before that he worked in a hospital in Washington, but once he tried outpatient work, he knew that’s what he wanted to do. Dr. Pace completed his residency in family medicine at Oregon Health Science University Hospital. Originally from Wisconsin, he earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
“I’ve been fortunate enough to have primary care when I desperately needed it, and now is my chance to be there for others,” said Matt Haselton, NP.
You could say doctoring runs in the family. His father was a family practitioner, and his wife is a new obstetrician/gynecologist at Enloe Women’s Services – Esplanade. The couple hoped to land in Northern California for the excellent biking and outdoor adventuring. They have taken to the wonders of Bidwell Park — often with their terrier and husky in tow.

Matt Haselton, family nurse practitioner, has lived in Chico for 14 years. He worked as an emergency department nurse for eight years, seven at Enloe.
Haselton has his master’s in nursing, family practice nursing from Sonoma State. He earned his bachelor’s in nursing and microbiology and an associate in nursing. He is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Haselton is a board game enthusiast and an Iraq war veteran.
“I sincerely hope that I can provide a space where people feel safe and comfortable talking about difficult issues,” he said. “I’ve been fortunate enough to have primary care when I desperately needed it, and now is my chance to be there for others.”
Enloe Primary Care also has two medical assistants and three front office staff. Leadership includes Nurse Supervisor Tori Harris, Community Health Nurse Manager Wes Matthews and Clinical Director Andy Miller, M.D.
