Continuing Education

Enloe Medical Center hosts continuing education courses and symposia year-round for nurses, physicians and other health care providers to help keep them current on medical information in their field. As a patient-centered medical center, we ensure that each class and symposium focuses on quality care and the patient experience. Enloe's continuing education events in Chico, Calif., are open to medical professionals throughout the Northern California region and the state. Come and participate in learning the best-practice standards of care by applying them to improve the outcome of critically ill patients. This symposium is offered to registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, respiratory therapists and pre-hospital staff. June 7: Medical Surgical Symposium

Topics that will be discussed include the benefits to chiropractic care, human trafficking awareness for the medical professional, identification and management of acute kidney injury, and understanding body donation science. This symposium is for registered nurses, respiratory therapists and pre-hospital staff.

May 15, 16, 17: Labor & Delivery Physiologic Review / Maternal Newborn NCC Exam

Fast paced, comprehensive and intense review of physiology, pathophysiology, signs/symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of mother and the low-risk newborn. This program will refresh your knowledge base, improve your assessment skills for clinical practice and assist you as a caregiver. It is also an excellent prep for the RNC exams with content to compliment exam outlines and review the test taking skills.

May 27: Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) Program

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses (WOCN) Society developed the Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) Program as a continuing education program for licensed nurses to obtain knowledge and skills in the treatment of acute and chronic non-healing wounds. The program will assist the licensed nurse to provide optimal care and improve patient outcomes through a flexible education program, which is applicable to all health care settings.

The WTA Program is a flexible method to obtain advanced wound care training utilizing a series of pre-recorded, online learning modules narrated by Phyllis Bonham, Ph.D., MSN, RN, CWOCN, DPNAP, FAAN, and Dorothy Doughty, MN, RN, CWOCN, FAAN. The training modules and case studies are completed at the learner's own pace, and — upon completion — are followed by hands-on skill practice and competency validation. Learners have three months to complete the WTA Program under the direction and support of a WOCN-approved WTA course coordinator.

Health Care Provider Class Schedules

Health Care Provider BLS

This American Heart Association course is designed for health care professionals. It teaches basic CPR, two-person CPR, and bag valve mask for the adult, child, and infant. The course also covers how to relieve choking in adults, children and infants, as well as AED information. See the 2019 BLS Health Care Provider class schedule.

Enloe Employee BLS Renewal

This is a BLS renewal class for Enloe Medical Center employees only. See the 2019 Enloe Employee BLS Renewal class schedule. Pre-registration is required. Self-register in OAK under class name Employee BLS Renewal, or call the Education Center at (530) 332-7589. Only register for a class held in the month that your certification expires.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Provider (ACLS)

This course is designed for health care providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. See the 2019 ACLS class schedule. Pre-registration is required. Call the Enloe Education Center at (530) 332-7589. After registration, review the pre-course information.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

This course is designed for health care providers who initiate and direct basic life support thorough advanced life support. Course concepts are designed to be used throughout the stabilization and transport phases for both in-hospital and out-of-hospital pediatric emergencies. Basic Arrhythmia

This course serves as an introduction to arrhythmia recognition for the RN and LVN. CNAs, unit secretaries and other allied health professionals are welcome to enroll. Course content includes anatomy and physiology of the heart as well as sinus, atrial, junctional, and ventricular rhythms, AV blocks, and bundle branch blocks. See the 2019 Basic Arrhythmia class schedule.

Certified Nursing Assistants

The CNA Class is designed to meet the continuing education needs for Certified Nursing Assistants. See the 2019 CNA class schedule. Pre-registration is required. Enloe employees, self-register in OAK or call the Education Center at (530) 332-7589. Choose only one class per series.

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

The Neonatal Resuscitation Program will help you learn to resuscitate newborns. After reading the NRP textbook and practicing the skills, you will learn to be a valuable member of the resuscitation team. See the 2019 NRP class schedule. Pre-registration is required.
