Registration Details

How to Register

Please call 530-332-7571 to register. 

  • There are no refunds for this class.
  • A $100 late fee applies if you want to switch to Tier 2 after completing Tier 1.
  • There may be a 12-week waiting period to start preceptorship.

Enrolling in Tier 2?

Enrolling in Tier 2? Enloe Medical Center is required to have a contract with your organization.

  • Please have the individual who handles contracts at your facility email Ambur Cambern (ambur.cambern@enloe.org) to begin the process as soon as you register.
  • The contract process cannot begin until your facility contacts Ambur.
  • Once the contract is fully executed and signed, you will complete the onboarding process.

Fees & Payment

Enloe Employees

Enloe Employees: $250 - Please discuss with your manager prior to registering. If supported to attend, your manager will register you.

Non-Enloe Employees

  • Tier 1–WTA Program only: $550
  • Tier 2–WTA Program & 16 hours of preceptorship at Enloe Wound Center: $850

Board Certified Exam

Description

Wound Treatment Associate Program

The Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurses Society (WOCN) developed the Wound Treatment Associate (WTA) Program as a continuing education program for licensed nurses to obtain knowledge and skills in the treatment of acute and chronic non-healing wounds. WTA utilizes a series of pre-recorded, online learning modules narrated by Phyllis Bonham, PH.D., MSN, RN, CWOCN, DPNAP, FAAN, and Dorothy Doughty, MN, RN, CWOCN, FAAN.

Participants complete the modules and case studies at their own pace, followed by hands-on practice and testing. Participants have three months to complete the WTA Program under the direction of a WOCN-approved WTA course coordinator.

Important Dates

Spring 2026

  • Feb. 2: Self-paced online modules and case studies begin. All modules and case studies must be completed before May 5.
  • May 6: Mandatory 4-hour Zoom session.
  • May 15: Mandatory 2-hour, in-person clinical competency. You will be automatically enrolled in a 2-hour session upon registration. 

Fall 2026

  • Aug. 3: Self-paced online modules and case studies begin. All modules and case studies must be completed before Nov. 4.
  • Nov. 5: Mandatory 4-hour Zoom session. 
  • Nov. 18: Mandatory 2-hour, in-person clinical competency. You will be automatically enrolled in a 2-hour session upon registration. 

Spring 2027

  • Jan. 22: Registration closes.
  • Feb. 1: Self-paced online modules and case studies begin. All modules and case studies must be completed before June 1.
  • May 6: Mandatory 4-hour Zoom session.
  • May 12: Mandatory 2-hour, in-person clinical competency. You will be automatically enrolled in a 2-hour session upon registration.
  • June & July: Preceptorship is available.

Fall 2027

  • July 23: Registration closes.
  • Aug. 2: Self-paced online modules and case studies begin. All modules and case studies must be completed before Dec. 7.
  • Nov. 4: Mandatory 4-hour Zoom session.
  • Nov. 10: Mandatory 2-hour, in-person clinical competency. You will be automatically enrolled in a 2-hour session upon registration.
  • December & January: Preceptorship is available.

WTA-C Certification

WTA graduates are eligible for WTA-C certification.

  • To apply, you must work with a certified WOC nurse for 16 hours and pass a Board Certification exam.
  • To register for the exam, visit the Wound Ostomy Continence Nursing Certification Board website at wocncb.org.
  • There is a $250 fee.
  • Certifications are valid for five years

Continuing Education

This program offers 32.25 contact hours upon completion. WOCN is accredited with distinction as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, CEP #15115.

Participants must complete the online activity, receive a passing score of 70% on the comprehensive online post-tests and demonstrate competency in:

  1. Sensory testing with a Semmes-Weinstein monofilament.
  2. Application of Braden Scale
  3. Negative Pressure Wound Therapy (NPWT)
  4. Wound identification and pressure injury staging.

Participant must also complete and submit an evaluation form.
