At the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Identify and initiate treatment for high-risk, low-volume pediatric medical emergencies, e.g., sepsis, respiratory distress and anaphylaxis cases.
- Apply Enloe Health protocols and procedures for pediatric resuscitation, medication administration and escalation of care.
- Appropriately manage complications of septic shock such as hypoglycemia, poor perfusion or hypothermia.
- Demonstrate how to use the pediatric code sheets to safely prepare and administer weight-based pediatric medication, including emergency drugs.
- Increase comfort and proficiency in pediatric emergency simulations to improve real-world performance.
- Identify when a pediatric patient requires escalation of care and participate in stabilization and preparation for transport to a higher level of care.
- Engage in post-simulation debriefing to identify strengths, challenges, and areas for improvement in both clinical skills and teamwork.
