The Wound Treatment Associate Skills Refresher Day occurs every year, in spring and fall, for current Enloe Health Wound Treatment Associates. Enloe WTAs are encouraged to attend one Skills Refresher Day per calendar year to maintain competency.
This 4-hour class covers leading-edge advancements in the field of wound care and will include hands-on practice, guest speakers, and a vendor fair. Participants will review Enloe policies, documentation, and wound care guidelines, as well as formulary wound dressings, pharmaceuticals, topical treatments, and negative pressure wound therapy.
Highlights will include:
- Interactive time with vendors such as Smith and Nephew, 3M, Coloplast, Medline and Urgo
- Opportunities to share knowledge, network and collaborate
- A drawing for an Amazon gift card
- Light refreshments
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Describe how to utilize the Enloe Health Wound Care Guidelines and Epic Wound Care Panel order set based on wound assessment.
- Identify skin issues to which the wound therapy team needs to respond with further evaluation and consultation.
- List two indications of each topical dressing presented at the vendor fair experiential learning tables.
- Define implicit bias in health care and identify potential methods to overcome it.
- Perform a NPWT dressing change with advanced techniques.
- Describe two indications for use of NPWT instillation.
- List five interventions to prevent pressure injuries.
- Define, classify and stage pressure injuries.
