At the end of the program, participants will be able to:
- Correctly identify the types of splints needed to immobilize patient’s injuries.
- Accurately assess supplies need for said splints (type of padding, size of fiberglass and elastic bandages).
- Demonstrate the most commonly used fiberglass splints (Volar, SugarTong, Thumb Spica, short leg) with the correct anatomical position and splint formation.
- Discuss how implicit bias affects patient care and patient outcomes specific to the patient who requires emergent splint application.
