Every Heartbeat Matters

Thank You for Your Support

The Enloe Foundation is proud to support Enloe Medical Center's Cardiovascular Care Center expansion to meet the region's growing needs for heart care. With your help, we accomplished our goal of raising $5 million for this worthy cause and are happy to announce the Starmer Cardiovascular Care Center: A Gift of the Enloe Volunteers.

The center is named in honor of Alice Starmer, an Enloe volunteer and staff member from 1969-1989, who is credited with connecting the hospital with the community. Alice was regularly at the center of complex fundraising or organizational task. As a result, she became the hospital’s first Community Services director. Learn more about her and this great milestone.

Enloe Volunteer Services donated the funds that helped us reach this goal through the Enloe Gift Shop and the Every Penny Counts Campaign. Randy Wonzong, president of the Volunteers’ Board, and Kay Kohen, the board’s president-elect, presented a symbolic check for $1 million to Enloe President and CEO Mike Wiltermood and Mary Starmer Evans, pledging $500,000 to complete the campaign.

The Center is Taking Shape

With the funds from this pledge and others from you, the center is now under construction inside Enloe Medical Center. Once complete, the facility will double the capacity for heart care and include:

  • A total of four fully equipped procedure rooms and new imaging equipment
  • 10 bays dedicated to patient care before and after a procedure
  • A new diagnostic treatment area
  • A spacious dedicated family lounge
  • A private meeting room for physicians and patients' families

This Project Will Change Lives

This important $20 million expansion will improve access to the high level of cardiac care provided at Enloe Medical Center and improve the overall hospital experience for the thousands of patients we serve from across the North State. Additionally, the new center will help us recruit the next generation of interventional cardiologists and cardiac surgeons.

This is vital. Consider this:

  • Cardiovascular disease is the No.1 killer in the U.S.
  • Northern California's population is aging.
  • Demand for cardiovascular treatment is growing exponentially. Just watch our videos:

Our Work Continues

Although we reached this fundraising goal, other projects at Enloe Medical Center need funding, too. Help us make a difference by donating to another worthy cause. Your gift will have a lasting impact in our community for years to come.
