Healthy Steps

Mondays 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. | Fountain Medical Conference Room, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico

Healthy Steps is a gentle therapeutic exercise class with movements designed specifically to reduce swelling from lymphedema as well as help regain range of motion, increase flexibility, decrease depression, and promote positive self-image and joy! The class meets every Monday and Wednesday at the specified times. Class will not be held on the Monday of Spring Break (March 16). Brighter Days Skin Care Program

11 a.m. to Noon | Fountain Medical Conference Room, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico

For those currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation treatment or those who have completed therapy and need helpful tips on skin rejuvenation. Meet with Dermatologist Dr. Donald Richey in a small group of your peers to explore principles of hair, skin and nail care. Receive free trade-size samples of dermatological products to determine your skin care needs. Healthy Hearts Support Group (Topic: Growing Your Own Produce)

10 a.m. to 11 a.m.| Enloe Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Classroom A, 888 Lakeside Village Commons, Building C, Chico, Calif.

This month’s meeting will feature two gardening experts who will give pointers on growing your own heart-healthy produce: Master gardener Cheryl Cozad and expert gardener Jon Wren. Healthy Hearts is facilitated by the Enloe Heart Program and is open to heart disease patients, their families and the general public. For information, call Ken at (530) 343-2000.

Blood Drive

11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (closed for lunch 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.) |  Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico

Give blood, save a life. Appointments are recommended and can be scheduled at www.bloodsource.org/drives (enter code H004). Bring a donor card or photo ID, drink plenty of fluids and eat a good meal within four hours before giving blood. Donors must be age 17 to adult (or 16 with a signed parental consent form), at least 110 pounds and generally healthy. Participants earn MyBloodSource Rewards to redeem online for great items like a coupon for a pint of Baskin-Robbins Ice Cream or a free Bear Burger.

From Surviving to Thriving: Taking Control of Your Wellness

Managing follow-up care, creating a wellness plan, improving patient–provider communication—explore ways to take control of your survivorship wherever you are on the cancer journey. The Cancer Discussion Group meets on the third Thursday of each month.

Health and fitness are important for everyone, so gather your family and friends and join us Saturday morning for a fun way to take charge of your health AND give back to your community. Enloe’s Heart & Sole event starts with a Run for Wellness, featuring a one-mile walk or a 5k+ fun run. Both courses will have some fun surprises along the way and special treats at the finish line for participants, PLUS your registration fee will help support the Enloe Heart Program. The Run for Wellness is NOT a timed run, it is a FUN run for ALL ages and ability levels. After the run, the community is invited to participate in the Wellness Expo which will feature free health screenings and wellness-inspiring activities for the whole family. This FREE open house-style event will offer participants access to education and information about all aspects of diabetes including:

  • Free Blood Sugar Screenings
  • Diabetes Signs and Symptoms
  • Exercise and Nutrition
  • Medication
  • Local Resources

The number of adults with type 2 diabetes continues to climb with nearly 10% of Butte County adults now living with this chronic condition. Report Card on the Affordable Care Act

6 p.m. to 8 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico

This is a panel discussion about the impact of the Affordable Care Act on local hospitals, physicians and other health care professionals. Sitting on the panel will be: Dr. Richard Thorp of Paradise Medical Group Inc., Dr. Bill Skeen of Physicians for a National Health Program (PNHP) California, and Amber Kemp of the California Hospital Association. The discussion will be moderated by Mike Wiltermood, CEO and President of Enloe Medical Center. Each panelist will give a presentation, and a discussion with the audience will follow, with an opportunity for attendees to ask questions.

Pre-Diabetes Class

This two-and-a-half-hour class is designed for all adults, whether you think you have diabetes or not. Learn from our health care professionals how to take charge of your health.
