Sunday, May 3

Celebration of Life 5K Walk/Run

Race begins at 9 a.m. (see online registration page for check in times) | Bidwell Park’s One-Mile Picnic Area (Across from baseball fields) 

The Celebration of Life 5k is a new event that will benefit and raise awareness for hospice and palliative care in Butte County. All ages and abilities are welcome to come out to this chip-timed event. Top male and female finishers in each age category will receive a limited-edition event medallion. Registration is required. Learn more and register online.Included in the registration cost are a t-shirt, stainless steel cup, race dog tag and Chico Bag. Register by April 15 to guarantee these items. Hospice and palliative care is for those who are facing a life-limiting illness or whose loved one is facing a life-limiting illness. Their philosophy of care lies in the quality of life for each patient. Team members provide care to control symptoms, allow for improved comfort and support through their network of physicians, nurses, certified nurse assistants and volunteers. This event will benefit Enloe Hospice, Butte Home Health & Hospice, Feather River Hospital’s Paradise Hospice, Feather River Hospital’s In-Home Primary & Palliative Care and Enloe Supportive & Palliative Care. Event sponsors are Paradise Adventist Academy, Pathology Sciences Medical Group, Mangrove Medical Center and JEI Learning Center.

Growing Healthy Children Fun Run and Walk

Registration and Check in 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.; Race starts at 8:30 a.m. | One Mile Recreation Area at Bidwell Park

Enloe Medical Center is pleased to sponsor the 9th annual Growing Healthy Children Walk & Run in Bidwell Park. The goal of Growing Healthy Children is to raise awareness of the need for good nutrition and physical activity as part of a healthy lifestyle. Families can choose to participate in the Family-K (1 mile) or 5k loop, as well as shorter sprints for young children. After the run, enjoy healthy refreshments, fun activities, dance demonstrations and a prize drawing where four lucky kids will go home with a new bicycle! The first 300 kids to register will receive a free t-shirt, so register early at growinghealthychildrenchico.com. This event is FREE for local families.

Healthy Hearts Support Group - Ask About Your Medication

10 a.m. to 11 a.m.| Enloe Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Classroom A, 888 Lakeside Village Commons, Building C, Chico.

Healthy Hearts Support Group Meeting - Topic: Brains In Motion

10 a.m. to 11 a.m., Enloe Cardiac Rehabilitation Center, Building C, Classroom A, 888 Lakeside Village Commons, Chico, CA.

Our guest speaker will be Marcia Carter, a sensory processing and movement specialist. We will learn about exercise for your body and brain. Please bring a smile and join the fun and activities created to stimulate the mind and body. The next meeting will take place Oct. 12.

This Walk With a Doc will be led by Neurologist Paramjit Singh, MD, and will focus on stroke awareness. Drop the Drugs

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. | Enloe Cohasset Campus, 560 Cohasset Rd., Chico (corner of Cohasset Road and Rio Lindo Ave.)

Enloe Medical Center is partnering with the Butte County Sheriff’s Office and Butte County Department of Public Works to host this year’s prescription drug take-back day.This service is free and anonymous. No questions asked.

ACCEPTING: Unused, unwanted and expired medications (capsule and tablet form). Please remove pills from prescription containers and place in sealed plastic bags for easy drop off.

NOT ACCEPTING: Intravenous solutions, needles, and ointments.

Bunco De Mayo "Fun" Raiser

12:15 to 3:30 p.m. (game play begins at 1 p.m.) | Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico

For  $15 registration ($20 at the door), attendees will enjoy a fun afternoon of bunco, refreshments and cash prizes. Cancer Discussion Group (Topic: Cancer Prevention)

4:30 p.m. to 6 p.m. | Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico.

Join guest speaker, Oncologist/Hematologist William Bonis, MD, for a discussion on current research and practical tips related to cancer prevention. Participants have time to share wisdom in small groups where the emphasis is encouragement and hope. The Cancer Discussion Group meets on the third Thursday of each month. Community Resource Fair for Adults

Enloe Medical Center is pleased to partner with PASSAGES to host a “Community Resource Fair for Adults” during which you can learn about available resources for health care and prescription insurance coverage, nutrition services, independent living and more. Participants will have an opportunity to talk with professionals for several different agencies, all in one location!
