Student Opportunities

Enloe Medical Center offers a variety of opportunities for college students seeking experience in the medical field.

Clinical Observation Hours: Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapy

Students seeking clinical observation hours in physical, occupational or speech therapy to apply to an academic program are welcome to participate in an observation-only program at the Enloe Rehabilitation Center. Please send an email to students@enloe.org with “Observation Hours” in the subject line. Students must be at least 18 years of age, meet Enloe’s immunization requirements and complete a clearance intake appointment.

Internships

Internships allow students to perform a limited range of duties within the medical center in order to gain work experience for their field of study. However, our internship options are very limited due to the confidential and sensitive nature of work performed in the hospital setting. Clinical internships are coordinated through your school. Please check with your department chair to determine if an internship contract has already been established with Enloe Medical Center. If you already have arranged an internship with a department in the hospital, please print and complete the necessary steps, available on our Internships page.

Job Shadows

Job shadows at Enloe Medical Center consist of a one-day, 4-hour, observation-only experience for students 18 years of age or older.

Those interested in a job shadow at Enloe must first find an Enloe department with an employee who is willing to be shadowed and get approval from that employee's department manager. Please note that it is your responsibility to find this contact. Enloe cannot help with a placement due to the high volume of job shadow requests.

Once you have established a contact and approval, please email students@enloe.org to schedule a clearance appointment 48 hours before your job shadow is supposed to start. Proof of immunizations is required.

All physician job shadows are processed through our Medical Staff office. You can contact that office at (530) 332-7375.

Volunteer Opportunities

Enloe Medical Center gives local college students and community members an opportunity to gain experience in a hospital setting while also serving their community. Our adult volunteer program places college students at various nursing units within the medical center to assist staff, patients and visitors. To learn about currently available placements for adults, including college students, visit our Applying to Become a Volunteer page. High school students can look into the Junior Volunteer Program.
