Help During Your Weight Loss Journey

The caregivers at Enloe’s Bariatric Program want you to succeed after bariatric surgery. That’s why you’ll have help throughout your weight loss journey with free:

  • Support groups
  • Walks

Attend Our Support Services

Enloe also offers support services for those considering or who have had a gastric sleeve procedure or another bariatric surgery, including several classes. Our Preparing for Bariatric Surgery Class is available through Zoom on Wednesdays from 3-4:30 p.m. This class is designed to help patients prepare for their bariatric surgery plan at Enloe Medical Center. You’ll learn:

  • What to expect during your hospital stay
  • How to participate in the recovery process
  • And more

Your loved ones are encouraged to attend. You will be scheduled for this class when you are scheduled for surgery, about two weeks before your procedure.

To help you come up with a good diet plan, we also offer Pre-Op Nutrition classes. These take place through GoToMeeting during these days and times:

  • Mondays from 2–3 p.m.
  • Tuesdays from 10:30–11:30 a.m., 12:30–1:30 p.m. and 3:30–4:30 p.m.
  • And Thursdays from 2-3 p.m.

Join Bariatric Buddies

Bariatric BuddiesEnloe offers two support groups for those considering bariatric surgery and those who have had the procedure. These groups, called Bariatric Buddies, are free and take place every month.

When you attend, you’ll gain insight on wellness topics and meet others who have reached their weight loss goals in an atmosphere of encouragement. Chico Bariatric Buddies usually meets the last Tuesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. The Redding Bariatric Buddies group usually meets in Redding the first Monday of every month.

However, during the COVID-19 pandemic, both groups are meeting on the last Tuesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. through Zoom. For more information, call 530-332- 5122.

Join Our Healthy Living Class

This interactive class is designed to give those who have had bariatric surgery the tools they need to enhance their health. You’ll:

  • Get guidance on your diet
  • Learn healthy cooking
  • And more

This class usually meets the second Wednesday of every month from 6-7:30 p.m. through GoToMeeting. Although this class is meant for patients who have had bariatric surgery recently, anyone considering bariatric surgery or who has had bariatric surgery is invited. For more information about the class, call 530-332-5122.

Participate in Our Mentor Program

Bariatric Mentor ProgramThis program is designed to give you greater support and understanding during your bariatric journey. It connects you with others who have had weight loss surgery through Enloe’s Bariatric Program. Mentors work alongside you to help improve your well-being.

Mentors communicate with mentees through:

  • Phone calls
  • Text messages
  • And emails

All mentors go through the process of becoming an Enloe Volunteer and have gone through specialized training. They help encourage you and clarify and reiterate information from the patient manual. Mentors do not give medical advice.

Walk With Us

Bariatric Program walksDuring non-pandemic times, Enloe’s Bariatric Program offers quarterly walks. When available, people drop by to be active, explore scenic areas and meet others who have gone through weight loss surgery. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, these walks are not taking place until further notice.
