Enloe Health has been recognized for the top-rate, quality care we provide. We thank our employees, medical staff, and the many volunteers and community members who have made the following recognitions and designations possible.
Hospital Safety
In fall 2025, Enloe Health Enloe Medical Center achieved the highest possible Hospital Safety Score: an A, ranking us among the safest facilities in the country.
Enloe has earned this recognition in 16 of the previous 19 grading periods.
The rating is based on hospital performance in five general areas: Infections, Problems with Surgery, Practices to Prevent Errors, Safety Problems, and Doctors, Nurses and Hospital Staff. These areas measure such items as surgical site infections, blood clots after surgery, documentation, handwashing, patient falls, pressure sores, sufficient staffing, medication administration, leadership, training, and communication and responsiveness to patients.

Additionally, Enloe Health was recognized by Healthgrades as a 2023 Patient Safety Excellence Award™ recipient. This distinction places Enloe Medical Center among the top 10% of all short-term acute care hospitals as evaluated by Healthgrades, the leading marketplace connecting patients and providers
The honor marks the third straight year Enloe is both a Patient Safety recipient and in the top 10% in the country from Patient Safety.
Based on a study from 2019-2021, on average, patients treated in hospitals that received this recognition were 61.4% less likely to experience a hip fracture from an in-hospital fall, 52.7% less likely to experience a collapsed lung from a procedure or surgery in the chest area, 66.1% less likely to experience pressure sores or bed sores, and 67.3% less likely to experience catheter-related bloodstream infections, than if treated in a hospital that didn’t receive this award.
U.S. News & World Report

U.S. News & World Report designated Enloe Medical Center as a Northern Sierras Best Regional Hospital for 2025-2026. The medical center was also highlighted as a high performer in these 11 lines of service:

Enloe Health has achieved Gold Designation with Planetree International, an honor that underscores our caregivers’ unwavering commitment to person-centered care and empathy for the human experience.
Planetree’s Gold Designation is awarded to organizations that demonstrate excellence in person-centered practices, including compassionate communication, partnership with patients and families, staff engagement, and environments that promote healing and dignity.
This recognition places Enloe among an elite group of health care organizations worldwide that are setting the standard for whole-person care.

California Department of Public Health
Enloe Medical Center is licensed by the State of California to operate as an acute care hospital.
Joint Commission Accredited
Enloe Medical Center, the Enloe Health Stroke Program, and Enloe Health’s Pathology and Clinical Laboratory are Joint Commission-Accredited Programs. Learn more about quality and safety at Enloe Health.
American College of Surgeons Accreditation
The Enloe Health Regional Cancer Center has been granted three-year accreditation by the Commission on Cancer, a quality program of the American College of Surgeons.
The distinction recognizes the Cancer Center for maintaining levels of excellence in patient-centered care. It also highlights the center as a local resource where patients can access comprehensive, state-of-the-art cancer care.
CIO 100 Awards
The annual CIO 100 Awards celebrate 100 organizations and the teams within them that use IT in innovative ways to deliver business value, whether by creating competitive advantage, optimizing business processes, enabling growth or improving relationships with customers.
The award is an acknowledged mark of enterprise excellence. Only 100 organizations are selected each year across all industries.
Enloe Health earned a CIO Award in 2025 for our efforts with the AI-based Ambient Listening for Patient Care project in 2024. Enloe was one of only eight health care organizations nationwide to earn this honor.
Blue Distinction Centers
Enloe Medical Center is designated as a Center of Accreditation from the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS).
The ASMBS has awarded Enloe Health with this three-year designation five times: in 2007, 2010, 2013, 2016 and 2019. Learn more about Enloe Health Bariatric & Metabolic Services.
Enloe Medical Center is designated as a Blue Distinction Center+ for knee and hip replacement.
This two-year designation from Anthem Blue Cross was granted in 2019. Blue Distinction is given to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality health care and is based on rigorous, evidence-based criteria.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California have named Enloe Medical Center as a Blue Distinction Center for Maternity Care. In 2018, facilities that received designations under the Blue Distinction Centers for Maternity Care program cared for more than 40% of Blue Cross and Blue Shield commercially insured women giving birth across the country.
Blue Distinction is given to medical facilities that meet the rigorous quality selection criteria for maternity care set by the Blue Distinction Specialty Care program.
Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California have named Enloe Medical Center as a Blue Distinction Center in Spine Surgery. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is a national designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality specialty care.
The criteria for designation recently expanded to include more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety, as well as new cost-efficiency measures.
Recognition for Services
FlightCare

Enloe Health FlightCare has been fully accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Air Medical Transport Systems since 2008. CAMTS is an organization that is dedicated to improving the quality and safety of medical transport services.
The accreditation recognized that our medical transport rotor-wing service provides “highly skilled flight nurse/paramedic teams to care for adult and pediatric patients.”
Heart Care | Designated STEMI Receiving Center
Enloe Medical Center has been designated as a STEMI Receiving Center by the Sierra-Sacramento Valley EMS Agency since 2010.
A designated STEMI Receiving Center has been deemed particularly qualified to treat STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) heart attacks, a particular kind of attack, considered to be the most severe and caused by a clot in one or more of the coronary arteries. Heart Care | Get With The Guidelines - Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving Center

Enloe Medical Center received two awards from the American Heart Association for heart care:
- The 2025 Get With The Guidelines ® - Coronary Artery Disease STEMI Receiving Center Gold Plus Award with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll
- The 2025 Get With The Guidelines ® - Coronary Artery Disease NSTEMI Receiving Center Bronze Award
Hospitals receiving these awards have demonstrated their commitment to offering rapid, research-based care to people experiencing two types of heart attacks:
- ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI); these are caused by a completely blocked coronary artery
- Non-ST-elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI); these are caused by a partial blockage
Each year, about 285,000 people in the U.S. experience a STEMI. Recognition as a STEMI Receiving Center is designed to showcase hospitals that provide 24/7 support for STEMIs. These important facilities coordinate with a network of referring hospitals and emergency medical services to provide guideline-directed STEMI and NSTEMI care.
Heart Care | Get With The Guidelines - Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award

Enloe Medical Center received the 2025 American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines ® - Stroke Gold Plus Achievement Award.
Hospitals receiving this award have reached an aggressive goal of treating patients to core standard levels of care as outlined by the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association® for one calendar year. In addition, those hospitals have demonstrated compliance to an additional level of heart failure quality during the 12-month period.
Additionally, Enloe Health has received the following recent Get With The Guidelines Achievement Awards:
- Gold Plus (2025, 2024, 2023 and 2020)
- Silver Plus (2022)

Maternity Care | Baby-Friendly USA
Enloe Medical Center is designated as a Baby-Friendly birth facility. This international award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence, and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies.
We first received this designation in 2011, making Enloe Medical Center the first hospital between Butte County and Oregon to achieve this status. In 2022, we received another five-year designation, making us one of only 417 U.S. hospitals to hold this designation. This global initiative was launched by the World Health Organization and UNICEF in 1991.
Maternity Care | California Breastfeeding Coalition 2026 Hospital of the Year
Enloe Health earned the title of 2026 Hospital of the Year in the California Breastfeeding Coalition’s Lactation Impact Awards. This recognition is a tremendous honor and reflects the dedication of every team member who supports families on their infant-feeding journeys.
Enloe caregivers excel at helping families feed their babies with confidence and compassion, offering exceptional prenatal breastfeeding education, support during birth and the postpartum period, and outpatient lactation care after discharge.
From prenatal breastfeeding education to exceptional support during birth and postpartum and continuing with high-quality outpatient lactation care after discharge.
The California Breastfeeding Coalition highlighted Enloe’s:
- Demonstrated positive outcomes for parents and babies
- Exceptional commitment to supporting breastfeeding
- Comprehensive, family-centered lactation services
- Strong, evidence-based lactation support systems
The selection committee also praised Enloe’s unwavering dedication to ensuring families receive the care, education and support they need for their babies to thrive from the very earliest moments of life.
Enloe is very proud to be able to serve our community in this way. This recognition reflects the trust families place in us, and we are deeply grateful to all those who allow us to walk alongside them in their feeding journeys.
Maternity Care | U.S. News & World Report
Enloe Medical Center also earned recognition as a High Performing Hospital for maternity care from U.S. News & World Report, an organization focused on consumer advice, rankings, and analysis.
The award is attributed to Enloe Health’s safety and quality. U.S. News & World Report measured cesarean section rates in lower-risk pregnancies, newborn complication rates, exclusive breast milk feeding rates, early elective delivery rates, birthing-friendly practices and transparency on racial/ethnic disparities, among other measures.
Enloe Health was also named to the California Health & Human Services Agency and Cal Hospital Compare 2020 Honor Roll for Maternity Care for hitting a statewide target rate of 23.9% or lower for low-risk C-sections in first-time moms with low-risk pregnancies.
Physical Therapy
The Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC) has made Enloe Medical Center a Continuing Competency Approval Agency, meaning that we are an approved provider of continuing competency courses. Physical therapists must take 30 hours of approved courses every two years to maintain their license. By offering the classes here in Chico, Enloe Health provides a value to these professionals.
Robotic Surgery
Enloe Medical Center was accredited by the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery. The hospital was recognized for sustaining a culture of excellence by committing to safety, high-quality surgical care and optimal patient outcomes.
SRC accreditation distinguishes Enloe Health and its robotic surgery service from other health care providers without accreditation by advancing surgical team leaders in improving care quality and adopting proven clinical approaches to drive best-in-class surgical care.
Respiratory Therapy
The California Society for Respiratory Care recognized Enloe Health’s respiratory therapy team for winning service in 2022. Our team received the CSRC RT Department of Excellence Award for the Northern California Region in October.
In bestowing the honor, the society touted Enloe Health Respiratory Therapy for its collaboration and advocacy of patients, families, and clinical outcomes, through:
- Use of telehealth to help fragile patients receive care without long-distance travel
- Participation in daily multidisciplinary patient rounding in the Enloe Health Intensive Care Unit/Cardiac Care Unit
- Staying current in best practices and equipment
Transfusion Services
Enloe Health’s transfusion service has been accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) since 1981. AABB-accredited facilities are responsible for collecting almost all of the U.S. blood supply and transfusing more than 80%. The AABB accreditation process takes place every two years.
The Accreditation Program supports high standards for medical, technical and administrative performance, scientific investigation, clinical application, and education. It assesses quality systems and operational areas. Accreditation is granted for collection, processing, testing, distribution, and administration of blood and blood components, and perioperative activities.
