Each year Enloe Medical Center’s Physician Legacy Award recognizes a member of the Enloe medical staff for exceptional service, leadership and performance in medicine and the community. In 2015, Pediatrician Patrick Tedford, MD, was honored at a general medical staff meeting on Dec. 15.

Dr. Tedford began practicing pediatrics in Chico in 1975. Dr. Tedford was appointed as Associate Professor at the University of California, Davis in 1982. He has also provided private parenting classes; given instruction on pediatrics to paramedic students at Butte College and nursing students at California State University, Chico; and was a Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) instructor, for health care professionals, at Enloe Medical Center from 1992 to 2005.

One nomination for Dr. Tedford stated, “He has been an asset to this community and to the hospital for many years. Many children and adults in this community owe their health and wellness to him.” Another said, “He has and continues to provide excellent care for generations of families in Chico. He has a warm, reassuring bedside manner and a wealth of knowledge and experience.”

The selection process for the award includes a review of nominations made by doctors on the medical staff, employees, volunteers and community members. Criteria includes an Enloe physician whose leadership at the hospital and in the community both locally and at large has changed our world for the better, who has been a member of the medical staff for more than one year, and who has excellent clinical knowledge and skill.
