Enloe's Cancer Connections program includes all aspects of patient support, from free classes and education, to making referrals to case management social workers and volunteer patient ambassadors. Every patient receives a binder with tips, tips, key phone numbers and other helpful resources and information.
Education & Support
Through Cancer Connections, the Enloe Regional Cancer Center organizes support groups and classes in Chico, CA, to help patients and families learn about and find healthy ways to cope with their illness. This includes:
New Patient Orientation
All newly diagnosed cancer patients and their caregivers are encouraged to attend. Hematology patients are also invited. Find out more about how to get the most out of your doctor’s visits, communicating with others about your diagnosis, managing financial and legal issues, dealing with stress related to diagnosis, and resources available to support you during and after treatment.

Being informed can help reduce stress and improve your experience! A brief introduction to chemotherapy and an opportunity to ask questions of an oncology nurse will be offered to those patients scheduled to begin chemotherapy. Caregivers also encouraged to attend.

Gentle Movement Class | Healthy Steps
Gentle therapeutic exercise to help regain range of motion, increase flexibility, reduce swelling from lymphedema, decrease depression, and promote positive self-image and joy! This class is gentle with easy movement and can be done sitting or standing—and it’s fun!
The class is Mondays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the Fountain Medical Conference Room at the Fountain Medical Plaza, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico. There will not be a Monday classes on Feb. 15 or March 14, but there will be class on Jan. 18 (Martin Luther King Jr. Day).

Help in the Home
Cancer Connections can call upon the resources of Enloe HomeCare & Hospice and help to screen eligibility and expedite referrals for those programs. Enloe's multidisciplinary team reviews patients to best meet their needs. For more information, please call (530) 332-3854.
For patients and their families who need temporary housing during the course of treatment, Cancer Connections can provide a list of local motels, hotels and other facilities. Many proprietors give preferential rates to patients and their families, and some have extra services, such as meals and transportation. For information, please call (530) 332-3854.
Options for Care
At times, patients are diagnosed when their cancer is widespread. Sometimes the cancer has recurred and treatment does not seem to be helping. Many patients want to be with loved ones in the comfort of their home. The Enloe Hospice team can be invaluable in providing care and physical, emotional and spiritual support to those in need.
