To us, success is assisting patients in achieving a healthy weight and lifestyle. After surgery, patients can accomplish this by adhering to their diet and exercise plans, and by taking accountability seriously. This requires a lifetime commitment. Our ongoing education and support are essential keys on the road to success.

Bariatric Pre-Surgical Class

This online class is designed to help patients prepare for their bariatric surgery at Enloe Medical Center. It provides a better idea of what to expect during the hospital visit and how to participate in the recovery process. Spouse, relatives and friends are welcome and encouraged to view the class.

Bariatric Post-Operative Class

This two-hour interactive class is offered at about one month after surgery. Participants get an opportunity to review important information and follow-up on special guidelines as their diet and other needs change. The class is held on two Thursdays each month. Bariatric Buddies Support Group

This support group provides pre- and post-operative information and support. It offers speakers, education and a close-knit, emotionally supportive network of people. The group is free and open to anyone thinking about or who has already undergone bariatric surgery at Enloe or elsewhere, and their family and friends. Bariatric Buddies meets on the last Wednesday of the month at 6 p.m.

Weight-loss Surgery Informational Seminars: Weekly on Wednesdays

Free weekly seminars led by bariatric surgeons Deron Ludwig, MD, and Erik Simchuck, MD, with intro by Enloe bariatric nurses. Covers topics related to weight-loss surgery, the disease of morbid obesity, health issues associated with obesity and information about surgical options. Seminars are held on the 1st, 2nd, 4th Wednesdays from 12pm to 2:30pm and every 3rd Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Starting Feb. 1, the seminars will take place on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays (except March, which meets on the 2nd and 5th Thursdays) of the month from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and every 3rd Wednesday 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Meetings take place at the Fountain Medical Conference Room, 251 Cohasset Road, Chico. Enloe Bariatric Program, (530) 332-5122. Drs. Ludwig and Simchuk, members of Enloe's medical staff, are independent licensed practitioners not employed by the medical center.
