Touchstone
Touchstone is a case management, day treatment and aftercare program
for drug and alcohol dependent women who are pregnant or have young
children. Enloe Medical Center helps assure the existence of this
unique program, which is offered at a low cost or at no cost to
the participants.
Touchstone teaches women:
- Recovery skills
- Relapse prevention
- Parenting
- Relationship and coping skills
The program offers tools toward the day-by-day, lifelong process
of recovery. Of all the skills that women learn at Touchstone, perhaps
the most valuable is the ability to help oneself.
Case management includes:
- Monthly home visits
- Individualized treatment plans
- Advocating for clients
- Multiple referrals for numerous life-skills or psychosocial
and medical needs
Day treatment consists of:
- Three treatment levels, 16 weeks long each, focusing on areas
such as:
- Alcohol and drug education
- The 12-step process
- Healthy relationships
- Communication skills
- Parent education
- Women's issues
- Life skills
- An optional fourth level of treatment
The program has also assisted women who may have otherwise gone
to jail due to their addiction. Touchstone continues to work collaboratively
with Social Services and the Courts in Butte County, to assist women
in meeting legal obligations and service plans in re-unifying with
their children and families.
