Recreation and Dreams for Children with Cancer
RAD is a support and recreation group for children with cancer
and their families. The group has hosted many fun trips and activities,
such as:
- Great America
- Book Family Farm in Durham
- Disney on Ice
- Harlem Globetrotters
- Roller-skating
- Plane rides
- Scrap booking
At least 300 people participate in R.A.D. functions each year.
The group, in existence at Enloe since 1989, aims to give pediatric
patients, their siblings and parents fun opportunities to enjoy
life "outside" of their illness. It also provides a supportive
environment for families to express their concerns and feelings,
and share coping strategies. The R.A.D. program is totally supported by charitable donations to the Enloe Foundation. For more information, please call
530.332.3171.
