STUDENT PROGRAMS
We are very grateful for the local college and high school students 
who choose to serve at Enloe. These are students who are
interested in the medical field and want more experience in the environment.
WHAT IS THE COLLEGE STUDENT PROGRAM?
The College Student Volunteer Program at Enloe Medical Center
gives local college students College the opportunity to gain
experience in a hospital environment and serve their community simultaneously. This semester-long program places students at various nursing units within the medical center to assist staff,
patients and visitors. Applications for the college student program
are available by downloading a PDF Version, email or by calling the Volunteer Services Office at (530) 332-4575. College students
attend a separate orientation offered 3 times a year; once preceding each college semester. Upcoming orientations for 2009-2010 are:
- May 10, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- August 2, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.
- December 6, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m.

WHAT DO COLLEGE VOLUNTEERS DO?
These students typically work a 3-4 hour shift once a week. Most students volunteer in a Nursing Unit Support capacity working closely with hospital staff. These volunteers have a high level of clinical environment exposure, moderate patient contact and moderate public contact. The following placements are available to college students:
Job Title: Administrative and Rehabilitation Center Help (ARCH)
Summary: Support nursing staff on the unit as well as support patient-nutrition therapy process.

WHAT IS THE JUNIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM?
The Junior Volunteer Program at Enloe Medical Center gives high school students the opportunity to work in a healthcare environment. This program is designed to be both an educational and enriching experience for local students. Benefits to this program include in-depth hospital tours, skill training, letters of recommendation, leadership experience, Presidential Service Awards and more.
WHO ARE JUNIOR VOLUNTEERS?
Junior Volunteers are young adults who are enthusiastic about volunteering their time to the community. Under the direction of hospital staff, Junior Volunteers serve in several capacities: staffing the gift shop, delivering flowers, running errands for various departments, escorting visitors to their destination, performing clerical support and assisting with special events for the medical center.
WHO CAN BECOME A JUNIOR VOLUNTEER?
Any high school student between the ages of 15 and 18
may apply to the Junior Volunteer Program. Applicants must be available to volunteer the entire service year - January to December or July to June. Applicants must be available at least 6 weeks out of the summer to volunteer. The
number of students accepted into the program will vary each year based on demand.
HOW TO APPLY?
Applications are accepted twice a year, once in the fall
for Winter Intake Period and once in the spring for Summer Intake Period. Downloadable PDF version of the Junior Volunteer application is available. Applications are
due
March 31, 2010 at 5pm for Summer Intake.

incomplete applications will not be accepted.
After
your application is submitted you will be scheduled for
an interview with our volunteer panel. If accepted into
the program the volunteers will attend an orientation
where program guidelines and required regulatory information, such as health, safety and privacy policies
are presented.
WHAT DO I HAVE TO COMMIT?
Junior Volunteers are required to work a 3 hour weekly shift during the service year. This gives the volunteer a total of 100 service hours. These hours also include several mandatory trainings throughout the school year.
WHEN DOES THE JUNIOR VOLUNTEER PROGRAM START?
Volunteers accepted into the program in November will begin volunteering in December. Volunteers accepted into the program in April will begin volunteering in June.
