Bunco de Mayo FUNraiser

Achy, Breaky Joints - The Knee

This free education seminar will be presented by Charles Wilhite, MD, Karen Starkey, RN, Orthopedic Nurse Certified, and Jeff Zelenski, Physical Therapist. Dr. Wilhite will discuss the treatment of the painful knee, with a focus on the "arthritic joint."Learn about non-operative management as well as the latest in arthoscopic intervention and mini-invasive and quad-sparing joint replacement therapy. Karen Starkey, RN, will present about Enloe Medical Center's Total Joint Replacement Program, which offers a free patient education program to help patients prepare for their surgery. Jeff Zelenski, PT, will provide valuable information on rehabilitation after a total joint replacement procedure. Programs are designed to ensure the best outcome and lifestyle. The event is hosted by Enloe Medical Center and Chico Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medical Associates.

Any interested in volunteering at Enloe is welcome to attend. The first hour will be an Information Session designed to orient the public to the role, purpose, and placements opportunities available through Volunteer Services. This information session is followed by a three-hour orientation class required of anyone who wishing to volunteer in the healthcare setting. Community members may come for just the first part or both. Contact Volunteer Services for more information, 332.4575.

Brain Attack Seminar - 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

What is a TIA? What happens when oxygen is cut off from the brain? Learn the symptoms and treatments for stroke. Understanding the symptoms of stroke could save your life or the life of someone you know, or help prevent disability. This free seminar, during National Stroke Month, is presented by Michael O'Brien, PhD, MD, Director of the Enloe Medical Center Stroke Program.

Enloe Hospice Open House and Health Fair

In celebration of 30 years of service, this event features free health screenings for grip strength, blood pressure, diabetes, blood-oxygen level; educational displays; information; and light refreshments. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Enloe HomeCare and Hospice, 1390 East Lassen Ave., Chico.
