Baby Faire

9 a.m. to noon; check-in begins at 8:30 a.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico. Are you expecting or thinking about becoming pregnant? The Enloe Baby Faire, hosted by the Enloe Mother & Baby Care Center, features a keynote talk by pediatrician Natalie Vogel, MD, continental breakfast, exhibits and educational sessions on Parenting: Balance and Partnership; 40 Reasons to Go the Full 40 Weeks of Pregnancy; Car Seat Safety Tips; Building Your Birth Plan; Infant/Child CPR; Lactation Education; and Safe Grandparenting. Enloe Pillars for Prevention, a free monthly drop-by community wellness program

9 a.m. to noon, Enloe Outpatient Center, Building C, Classroom A, 888 Lakeside Village Commons. Free and open to the public on the first Friday of each month, this program is devoted to the promotion of healthy living and the prevention of illness and disease. Includes: understanding your Body Mass Index (BMI), improving your diet, cholesterol testing coupons, blood pressure screening, stress reduction techniques and more. RELAY FOR LIFE

For 24 hours, starting Saturday, June 8 at 10 a.m., the Enloe Warriors of Hope will join the American Cancer Society and 59 other teams to help raise awareness and much-needed funding for the ongoing battle against all types of cancer. YOU CAN HELP!

• Join our team. Visit www.relayforlife.org/chicoca and join the “Enloe Warriors of Hope” team (a minimum $10 donation is recommended), then contact one of our team leaders to sign-up for your walk time.

• Purchase a luminaria. Honor the people in your life who have been touched by cancer by purchasing a luminaria. These will be placed around the track during the walk and will be lit after dark creating a beautiful display of hope.
• Buy tickets to win. Our team is giving away two new bicycles courtesy of Barbara & Ken Derucher and Campus Bicycles, as well as one foursome round of golf, with cart, courtesy of Canyon Oaks Country Club. Tickets will be available at the Enloe booth the day of the Relay or from any of our team leaders.

The High Personal Cost of American Drugs

7 p.m. to 9 p.m., Enloe Conference Center, 1528 Esplanade, Chico. Enloe Medical Center will host this panel discussion led by three health care professionals. Clinical Pharmacist Danny Abifadel, Pharm.D, and Hematologist/Oncologist David Potter, MD, both of Chico, will describe how our local medical center and patients are affected by the policies and practices of the American pharmaceutical industry. The featured speaker will be Donald Light, PhD, an internationally recognized expert on drug policy and the pharmaceutical industry. Dr. Light will discuss the mortality and suffering caused by prescription drugs in America as well topics including the high price of prescription drugs and the methods that the drug companies use to market their products.(Dr. Light's work can be read at www.pharmamyths.net.)The evening will conclude with an open discussion among the panelists, moderated by Enloe CEO Mike Wiltermood.
