Disposal of Home-Generated Medical Waste

Please dispose of sharps and unneeded medications safely.

Sharps are needles, lancets, catheters, scalpels, dental tools and any other device that pierces the skin of people and animals. Sharps are banned from municipal solid waste streams because of the risk they pose to solid waste collection workers and the public. Do not put them in the trash. Safe disposal is easy and free.

By disposing of unwanted or expired medications by at a local drop-off location, you will help protect your family, community and environment.
