Planetree Initiative: Healthy Communities
This is one of the patient-centered initiatives addressing the components of Planetree at Enloe Medical Center.
Planetree is designed to be a catalyst for health and wellness in the larger community.
Community Education & resources
Enloe Medical Center's first Planetree seminar, “State of Grace,” highlighted how art, creativity and intuition can rejuvenate caregivers and patients. We offer several healthy opportunities throughout the year:
- Educational events, support groups & classes
- Seasonal flu vaccine clinics & West Nile Virus information
- Health eLibrary & Health resource links
- Advocacy & protective services & sharps disposal information
For more about Enloe in the community, see our Community Benefit Report.
Sustainability Task Force
As part of our commitment to community health, Enloe Medical Center has formed a committee that has expanded the medical center's recycling and ecologically sustainability practices and that continues to look at practices that are good for people and the environment.
In keeping with a commitment to improve the health care of patients and the community, Enloe Medical Center became tobacco-free at all campuses on Feb. 14, 2013. Patients who need support are encouraged to request nicotine replacement through their physician before they are admitted to the medical center. If patients need support during their hospitalization, they are offered nicotine replacement therapies.
For those who are ready to quit smoking, personal support is available through the California Smokers’ Helpline, at 1-800-No-Butts. Also find smoking cessation help and information on Enloe's Health eLibrary.
