Enloe Medical Center thanks its employees, medical staff, and the many volunteers and
other community members who have made these recognitions and designations possible.

Trauma Center Achievement

Enloe’s Trauma Center, designated as a Level II Trauma Center by California since 1988, was verified as a Level II Trauma Center by the Verification Review Committee in May 2014. Enloe became the first hospital between Sacramento and Portland, Ore., to receive this designation. Hospital Safety

Enloe Medical Center was very favorably ranked in Consumer Reports' hospital safety ratings, published in May 2014. These are based on data on infections, readmissions, complications and other adverse events. Ratings can be viewed at www.consumerreports.org.

Safer-Surgery Survival Guide

The July 2013 issue of Consumer Reports featured Enloe Medical Center in an article titled, "Your safer-surgery survival guide." The leading national magazine looked at a number of criteria from different types of surgeries, outcomes and more, rating more than 2,400 hospitals nationwide.

Planetree Bronze Recognition: Patient-Centered Care

Bronze Recognition was awarded to Enloe Medical Center in 2013 following a series of focus groups with patients and their loved ones, as well as staff from a multitude of disciplines and divisions within the hospital.Learn more about this award.

Patient Satisfaction

The California Hospital Association ranked Enloe Medical Center 12th for patient satisfaction out of 245 California hospitals in 2013. This was based on HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems) data, which most hospitals are required to report. For patient feedback to be counted, patients must give an overall hospital rating of 9 or 10 out of 10. You can view the questions and compare scores on Hospital Compare

Enloe Medical Center’s patient satisfaction scores have improved from the bottom 2% in the nation in 2007 to the top 25% in 2013. Enloe contributes much of this success to the implementation of a patient-centered approach to health care.

National Research Corporation selected Enloe Medical Center as one of 29 recipient of its 2012 Path to Excellence award, recognizing improved patient satisfaction. Recipients were selected based on achievement within categories that patients have identified as being most important to the quality of their care. Enloe was one of four hospitals selected in the "Rate Hospital – 100 to less than 300 beds."

Community Value Five-Star Award

Enloe Medical Center was recognized with a Community Value Five-Star award from Cleverley + Associate. The health care financial consulting firm benchmarks organizations and provides strategies to enhance performance. Receiving the Five-Star rating means a hospital scored in the top 20 percent of hospitals for demonstrating low costs, reinvesting in the hospital and providing high quality care. Enloe is one of only 40 hospitals in California to receive the award for 2012 and one of two in Butte County. Enloe was also awarded in 2010.

California Department of Public Health

Enloe is licensed by the State of California to operate as an acute care hospital.

Joint Commission Accredited

Enloe Medical Center, the Enloe Stroke Program, Enloe HomeCare and Enloe's Pathology and Clinical Laboratory are Joint Commission-Accredited Programs.

Committed to Organ Donation

Enloe Medical Center received the HRSA Medal of Honor from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services in 2010 for the fifth consecutive year. In 2009, Enloe was presented with two organ donation medals of honor. The recognition acknowledges Enloe’s efforts in increasing organ donation to patients awaiting transplants. Recognition for Services

Bariatric Program

Enloe Medical Center is designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Bariatric Surgery*. This three-year designation from Anthem Blue Cross was granted was also 2009 and 2007. Blue Distinction is given to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality health care and is based on rigorous, evidence-based criteria.

Center of Excellence for Bariatric Surgery

 

The American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric surgery named Enloe Medical Center as an ASMBS Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence in 2014. The designation recognizes programs with well-documented processes and a consistent record of favorable outcomes in bariatric surgery. Diabetes Education

Enloe’s Diabetes Education Program is accredited by the American Association of Diabetes Educators. This four-year accreditation, awarded in 2014, provides residents of Northern California, with increased access to critical diabetes education services. Enloe also received this accreditation in 2010.

FlightCare

Enloe FlightCare was awarded with a full three-year accreditation by the Commission on Accreditation of Air Medical Transport in both 2011 and 2008. CAMTS is an organization that is dedicated to improving the quality and safety of medical transport services. The accreditation recognized that Enloe's medical transport rotor-wing service provides “highly skilled flight nurse/paramedic teams to care for adult and pediatric patients." Heart Program

Enloe Medical Center was re-designated as a Blue Distinction Center for Cardiac Care* in 2012, 2010, 2009. Enloe first received the designation in 2007, the year it also became one of 20 California hospitals recognized by Blue Shield of California’s Cardiac Quality Initiative for meeting standards of excellence established by the Blue Shield Cardiac Clinical Advisory Committee. Designated STEMI RECEIVING CENTER

Enloe Medical Center is designated as a STEMI Receiving Center by the Sierra-Sacramento Valley EMS Agency in 2010. A designated STEMI Receiving Center has been deemed particularly qualified to treat STEMI (ST Elevation Myocardial Infarction) heart attacks, a particular kind of attack, considered to be the most severe and caused by a clot in one or more of the coronary arteries. Intensive Care/Cardiac Care Unit

The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses (AACN), Aliso Viejo, Calif., recently conferred a silver-level Beacon Award for Excellence on the Intensive Care Unit/Cardiac Care Unit (ICU/CCU) at Enloe Medical Center in 2014. The award is a significant milestone on the path to exceptional patient care and healthy work environments recognizes unit caregivers who successfully improve patient outcomes and align practices with AACN’s six Healthy Work Environment Standards. Knee and Hip Replacement

Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield of California have named Enloe Medical Center as a Blue Distinction Center+ in Knee and Hip Replacement in 2013. The Blue Distinction Centers for Specialty Care® program is a national designation awarded by Blue Cross and Blue Shield
companies to medical facilities that have demonstrated expertise in delivering quality specialty care. The criteria for designation recently expanded to include more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety, as well as new cost-efficiency

Marketing & Communications

Enloe Medical Center received a Bronze Award from the Healthcare Public Relations and Marketing Association (HPRMA) in April 2011 for our Heart Heroes TV commercial. It is notable that there was not a silver or gold given in this category, as it meant Enloe received the highest honor.

Enloe Medical Center received a 2011 Merit Healthcare Advertising Award from the Healthcare Marketing Report for our Website. The national competition for the well-respected annual Health Care Advertising Awards began 28 years ago. A national panel of judges reviewed the entries based on creativity, quality, message effectiveness, consumer appeal, graphic design and overall impact. We are proud of this positive feedback! Mother & Baby Care Center

Enloe Medical Center is designated as a Baby-Friendly birth facility. This international award recognizes birth facilities that offer breastfeeding mothers the information, confidence and skills needed to successfully initiate and continue breastfeeding their babies. Enloe Medical Center is the first hospital between Butte County and Oregon to receive this recognition. Enloe Medical Center received the designation in 2011. It is a five-year designation.

Physical Therapy - Continuing Competency Approval Agency

The Physical Therapy Board of California (PTBC) has made Enloe Medical Center a Continuing Competency Approval Agency, meaning that we are an approved provider of continuing competency courses. Physical therapists must take 30 hours of approved courses every two years to maintain their license. By offering the classes here in Chico, Enloe provides a value to these professionals.

REGIONAL Cancer Center

Affiliated with h the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center

Formed an affiliation of cancer programs with the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center to enhance patient care and improve access to top level medical experts. The affiliation, which began in March 2011, is aimed at increasing cancer disease prevention and expanding access to high-quality, specialty treatment for residents of the region served by Enloe's Cancer Services.

Mayors Award Recipient for Healing Arts

Received the 2009 Mayors Award Recipient for the Healing Arts Gallery housed at Enloe Regional Cancer Center and for the ongoing display of Faces of Hope, The Enloe Cranes Project, and Flags of Hope community healing arts program.

National Spirit of Planetree Award

Presented with the National Spirit of Planetree Award in 2008 for a commitment to providing patient-centered care by utilizing the tools of Planetree and bringing together patients, the hospital and the community. Simulation Center

In 2010, the Society for Simulation in Healthcare announced the accreditation of the RuralNorthern California Clinical Simulation Center, a center established by the California State University, Chico School of Nursing in partnership with Enloe Medical Center and Feather River Hospital. The Rural Sim Center, as it is known, was accredited in the area of education and teaching. The accreditation process for simulation centers is new. Only 10 centers throughout the world were selected by the Society for Simulation in Healthcare to undergo accreditation in 2010.

Spine Surgery

Stroke Program

Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for Certification as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center

Enloe Medical Center earned The Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™ for certification as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center in 2013 and 2011 after undergoing a rigorous on-site evaluation and demonstrating compliance with nationally developed standards for stroke care. Enloe became the first hospital in Butte County to receive this accreditation. Learn more.

Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award

Enloe Medical Center received the 2013 American Heart Association's Get With The Guidelines® Stroke Gold Plus Performance Achievement Award. The award recognizes Enloe’s commitment and success in implementing a higher standard of care by ensuring that stroke patients receive treatment according to nationally accepted guidelines. In addition to the Get With The Guideline-Stroke award, Enloe Medical Center has also been recognized as a recipient of the association’s Target: Stroke Honor Roll, for improving stroke care.

Enloe also received the following Get With the Guidelines Achievement Awards: Gold-Plus (2012, 2011, 2010, 2009), Gold (2008), Silver (2007) and Bronze (2006).

Total Joint Replacement Program

Planetree selected Enloe Medical Center’s Total Joint Replacement Program as the first place recipient for its 2014 Spirit of Planetree Program Award. The program was recognized at the international 2014 Planetree Annual Conference in Chicago on Oct. 15. The award honors programs and services that support extraordinary achievement in transforming the health care experience. Planetree is an internationally recognized not-for-profit organization that partners with health care providers around the globe to advance patient-centered approaches to care. Planetree’s international membership is comprised of more than 500 organizations from eight countries. Enloe is one of 10 Planetree hospitals in California, and one of only three outside of Southern California. Learn more and see Enloe's video showcased at the Chicago event.

Transfusion Services

Enloe's Transfusion Service has been accredited by the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) since 1981. AABB-accredited facilities are responsible for collecting almost all of the U.S. blood supply and transfusing more than 80 percent. The AABB accreditation process takes place every two years. The Accreditation Program supports high standards for medical, technical and administrative performance, scientific investigation, clinical application and education. It assesses quality systems and operational areas. Accreditation is granted for collection, processing, testing, distribution, and administration of blood and blood components; and perioperative activities.
