Enloe welcomes Cardiologist Dr. Watson

CHICO, Calif., March 9, 2010 – Enloe Medical Center is pleased to announce the arrival of Andrew D. Watson, MD, Ph.D, who has joined Northstate Cardiology Consultants and the Medical Staff of Enloe. Dr. Watson, from the faculty of the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA, is at the forefront of treating heart disease, particularly lipid (cholesterol) disorders.

Dr. Watson, 44, spent the past five years as an Assistant Professor of Medicine/Cardiology at the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his internship and residency at UCLA, where he also received both his medical degree and doctorate in Pathology, studying the development of diseases such as Atherosclerosis on the cellular level. He served on UCLA’s Academic Senate as well as the medicalschool’s Admissions Committee and Task Force on Medical School Course Improvement. Hiswork has been published 32 times.

Dr. Watson holds certifications in Internal Medicine and in Cardiovascular Disease from the American Board of Internal Medicine. A native of Lodi, Dr. Watson received his B.S. in Biology from California State University, San Diego, and his M.S. in Biological Sciences from California State University, Sacramento.

Making the shift from teaching and research to patient care, Dr. Watson hopes to help address a root cause of heart disease: obesity. “Weight loss affects so many things,” he says. “I try to empathize with the situation, understand what the patient is going through, and try to simplify the process of weight loss.”

Dr. Watson sees patients at the offices of Northstate Cardiology Consultants, 198 Cohasset Road, Chico.
