Mike Wiltermood named CEO at Enloe Medical Center
CHICO, Calif., June 23, 2009 – Enloe Medical Center’s Board of Trustees named Mike Wiltermood as Enloe’s new President/Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1. Wiltermood has served as the medical center’s interim CEO since March, when he replaced Deborah Yancer.
“Mike has consistently shown his commitment to Enloe as well as to our community. Employees, physicians and community members alike have communicated to the Board that Mike is a leader who has the best interests of the hospital and Chico at heart,” explains Matthews D. Jackson, Chair, Enloe Medical Center Board of Trustees. “He also is a seasoned administrator who is well prepared to lead Enloe through the challenges that are at hand for health care.”
Wiltermood has more than 20 years of hospital leadership experience. Mike was the Chief Operating Officer at Enloe Medical Center, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the medical center, from July 2007 until March 2009. Prior to coming to Enloe, Mike was the Executive Vice President/Chief Operating Officer of Fremont-Rideout Health Group in Yuba City, Calif. He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Coulee Community Hospital in Grand Coulee, Wash.
Additionally, during his career, Wiltermood has held executive-level positions at hospitals and health systems in Arizona and Idaho. While he was CEO at Coulee Community Hospital in 1997, the hospital was a finalist for the American Hospital Association's Comeback of the Year Award. Mike was also CEO at St. Benedict Hospital in Jerome, Idaho, which was recognized as a Solucient Top 100 Hospital for two consecutive years. Wiltermood was President of the Columbia Basin Hospital Council (2002), was on the Board of Directors for the Association of Washington Public Hospital Districts (2001-2003) and was a delegate to the National Rural Health Care Association Policy Board for several years.
Wiltermood received his Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and his Masters of Science degree in Healthcare Administration from Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. He is also completing his doctoral studies in Organizational Leadership at Gonzaga University in Spokane, Wash. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and a former Trustee of the Washington State Hospital Association.
Wiltermood, a native of Northern California, grew up in Lincoln, Calif. He and his wife Kelly have lived in Chico for the past two years. Kelly, an arts educator, holds a master’s degree in art and most recently worked with the Yuba-Sutter Arts Commission. She continues to freelance developing arts-related programs with school districts. Their son Kyle recently graduated from Eastern Washington University and works for a marketing firm in Manhattan. Daughter Savannah graduated from Utah State University. She and her husband are moving shortly to Salt Lake City. Daughter Kelsey attends Yuba College in Marysville. Their youngest son Calvin will enter Pleasant Valley High School this fall as a freshman.
