Quality Initiatives

At Enloe Medical Center, we strive for great, quality care. We continually look for ways to incorporate technology and innovate to improve our services.

Additionally, by reaching out to patients and their families, we're able to create programs that are meaningful and applicable to preventive care.

We also build bridges with our neighbors to support the health of our community. Watch this video to see one of the ways we do this.

Our focus on continual quality improvements helps us achieve excellence every day.

Our Quality Summit

Every year, Enloe holds a Quality Summit. It brings employees and physicians together to review current quality initiatives, celebrate the achievements we've made in quality, and identify new initiatives to pursue.

Our Quality Summit is unique in the health care field and was ranked very favorably in a leading consumer magazine that covered Enloe for our hospital safety ratings.

Leading up to the Quality Summit, staff throughout the medical center create posters that illustrate the quality projects they've been engaged in. Then we look for the best evidence-based ideas that can make a difference in patient care and pursue those.

In the 2016-2017 year, 77 posters were created highlighting the many ways we provide quality care. From implementing new clinical care bundles to enhancing financial stewardship, this grassroots effort showcases the many faces of quality at Enloe.

Quality Summit Annual Report

The Quality Summit Annual Report provides an update on the quality initiatives identified in the year prior.

It also summarizes efforts Enloe caregivers have undertaken, highlights exceptional quality care, identifies the Quality Summit Award recipient and announces the newest quality initiatives.

Enloe's 2017-2018 Quality Initiatives

Enloe will address these newly chosen quality initiatives while continuing to follow those set in past years.

Epic Implementation: Throughout 2017 and into 2018, Enloe will lay the foundation for the integrated health record system Epic. Epic creates seamless information sharing among clinicians and allows patients greater access to their own health information. The transition will be completed in spring 2018.

Medication Safety Use of Anticoagulation Medications: New medications are available to treat conditions requiring anticoagulation, such as deep vein blood clots and the irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation. This quality initiative will implement evidence-based guidelines for the safe use of these new therapies and educate clinicians on their most appropriate use.

Enhanced Recovery After Surgery: Studies show that specific interventions can improve the experience and outcomes of perioperative patients. Called Enhanced Recovery after Surgery (ERAS), these steps improve pre-operative readiness by optimizing a patient’s nutritional status and reduce post-operative nausea and pain.
