Quality Initiatives

Enloe Medical Center is engaged around creating a culture of quality and patient-centered care that makes the Enloe experience special. Enloe caregivers participate in a number of quality assurance initiatives and publicly released surveys. We continually look for ways to achieve higher quality, reaching out to patients and their families to create programs that are meaningful, and building effective bridges with the community to support health along the continuum of care. Through Enloe's focus on continual quality improvements, we create excellence every day.

Enloe's Quality Summit

Enloe Medical Center's latest annual Quality Summit was held in April 2016. This annual event brings together employees and physicians from the Enloe Medical Staff to review current quality initiatives, celebrate achievements and identify new initiatives. Each year, we look for the best ideas that are evidence-based and can make a difference to patient care. Leading up to the Quality Summit, staff throughout the medical center create posters that illustrate the quality projects that they've been engaged in. In the 2015-2016 year, 83 posters were created highlighting the many ways we provide quality care. From implementing new clinical care bundles to enhancing financial stewardship, this grassroots effort showcases the many faces of quality at Enloe.

Quality Summit Annual Report

Enloe's 2016-2017 Quality Initiatives

Enloe will address these newly chosen quality initiatives while continuing to follow those set in past years.

Radiation Safety: Patient evaluation in the Emergency Department often requires multiple diagnostic tests, including CT scans. Incorporating the latest evidence, a multidisciplinary team will create guidelines for the safe use of this important imaging technology.

Efficient Diagnosis: Improve Timely and Specific Diagnosis of Infections Employing enhanced laboratory science tests improves the diagnosis of central nervous system and gastrointestinal infections. By doing so, treatment of these serious infections can be more specific and timely.

Care Team Communication: Enhance Communication of Fluid Balance Monitoring and communicating a patient’s fluid balance guides daily clinical decisions. The work of this team
will enhance existing processes to communicate this important measure of patient care.

Fracture Reduction Enloe Osteoporosis Clinic Osteoporosis significantly impacts the lives of many in the north state. As a root cause of many fractures, osteoporosis is important to identify and treat in order to preserve the quality of life for patients. The forthcoming Enloe Osteoporosis Clinic will create a multidisciplinary approach to improve bone health and reduce the risk of a second fracture.

Patient Safety: Decrease Delirium in Vulnerable Patients Delirium is commonly seen in patients with medical illnesses and may complicate a patient’s hospitalization and recovery. This initiative will create tools to identify those at risk for delirium and strategies to treat this condition.
